Thought For Today: “What Is Truth?” Jesus said, “For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.” (John 18:37) What is the truth that Jesus came to this earth to bear … Read more

Thought For Today: “God’s Ways Aren’t Ours” God has a much better perspective than we do because He can see what we can’t. He knows the future, and we don’t. The Apostle James said, “But your job is to obey the law, not to judge whether it applies to you.” (James 4:11b) We’re not capable … Read more

Thought For Today: “Standard Bearers of Faith” In everything we do and say in this life, as believers in Jesus Christ, we’re not only to be an example but also to set one for others to follow. We live in a culture where no one takes responsibility, where celebrities and people in authority act irresponsibly, … Read more

Thought For Today: “God’s Success Training” After His resurrection, Jesus stood on the shore of the Galilee and told His disciples, a group of professional fishermen, how to fish. “He called out to them, ‘Friends, haven’t you any fish?’ ‘No,’ they answered. He said, ‘Throw your net on the right side of the boat, and … Read more

Thought for Today: “Hope Springs Eternal” There is eternal hope for everyone because Jesus rose from the dead and is an overcoming Savior. Most of us don’t handle life’s disappointments well. We tend to draw a curtain of protection around ourselves, trying to keep the hurt out and bury our troubles and difficulties in the … Read more

Thought for Today: “Conformed or Transformed?” “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:2) To conform is to change in response to outside pressures, like when the forces of … Read more

Thought For Today: “God’s Pruning Process” And every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit (John 15:2b) We may think there isn’t much fruit on our branches, but God sees what we have and prunes us so that we can produce even more and greater fruit, that is, works through … Read more

Thought for Today: “Living With Hope” In this world, hope seems scarce. As we look at what is going on around us, we tend to lose enthusiasm and energy for life, and we begin a dangerous spiral downward into darkness and despair. But God wants to bring us hope so we can be revived and … Read more

Thought For Today: “Equal Opportunity in God’s House” I came across a very unusual verse. It’s found in David’s delegation of the Temple workload. “And they cast lots for each gate, the small as well as the great, according to their father’s house.” (1 Chronicles 26:13) Society has a grading system based on power, prestige, … Read more

Thought For Today: “Venturing Out By Faith” Sometimes God tells us to do something that, on logical grounds, seems nuts, that is, it doesn’t make any sense. But from God’s standpoint, it’s perfectly sane and true. All God needs is one person in harmony with His purposes, and with that person, God can do great … Read more

Thought For Today: “Webble Faith” Sometimes, when I think about the faith we need to live in this crazy, mixed-up world, the little egg-shaped toy, the Weeble, comes to mind. Back in the 70s, the slogan was “Weebles wobble but they don’t fall down.” They were shaped so they could wobble back and forth, but … Read more

Thought For Today: “Holiness Isn’t About Rules” Holiness doesn’t begin with a set of rules and regulations; rather, it begins with the Lord. God is holy and calls us to be holy, that is, separate from sin. “But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it … Read more

Thought For Today: “The Richest Land in the World” The richest piece of property in the world isn’t the diamond mines of South Africa, nor is it the oil fields of the Middle East. The richest piece of property in the world is a small parcel of land called Calvary. It was here that God … Read more

Thought for Today: “Wisdom Lived Out” Wisdom is revealed through our actions, not in the words we say. Jesus said, “Wisdom is vindicated by her deeds.” (Matthew 11:19b) In other words, actions speak louder than words. When I read quotes from great authors, the wisdom they convey is phenomenal. But when their words are examined … Read more

Thought For Today: “Judgment Begins with Us” There will come a time when we’ll have to decide whose side we’re on, because in our world, we’re caught between a rock and a hard place. On the one hand, we have this world we live in, which purports various truths, along with our society, which makes … Read more

Thought For Today: “New Is Not Always Better” We live in a society and culture that worships the “new.” We’re always looking for and buying the “new and improved” models or products, never knowing whether they will work as well or better than what we already have. We do this in our spiritual lives as … Read more

Thought for Today: “Regaining Hope” Besides air, water, and food, hope is a necessity of life. We must have hope. We cannot live without it. Hope is the last to die; it’s the last emotion within us. Therefore, it is essential to maintain hope even when everything around us seems hopeless. Society is suffering from … Read more

Thought For Today: “Spirit Willing Flesh Weak” Over the past several months, it’s been hard to do my devotional readings. I found that the only time I could do them was at night, or in the middle of the night, because of the interruptions. So I often found myself closing my eyes and waking up … Read more

Thought For Today: “Time to Get Stirred” When the need is known, God begins stirring the hearts of His people to carry out His plans and purposes. This is seen in Moses telling the people about the need to build His tabernacle. “Then everyone came whose heart was stirred, and everyone whose spirit was willing, … Read more

Thought For Today: “God is With Us” To have a joyful heart, we need to realize that we do not go through this life alone, because the Lord is with us and the troubles we face will not destroy us. The waters may rise, but they’ll never overflow. While the fires may grow hot, they’ll … Read more
