Thought for Today: “Take Time to Reboot”
Years ago, when we had problems with our computers, we were told to reboot them. It is this concept that God has told us to do for our lives as well, that when we’re stressed and ready to hang it up, He tells us to “reboot.”
“Six days do your work, but on the seventh day do not work, so that your ox and your donkey may rest, and so that the slave born in your household and the foreigner living among you may be refreshed.” (Exodus 23:12)
The Sabbath is not just good advice, or a suggestion God has given. It is a command, and if someone violated God’s law they paid for it with their life.
Today, this death penalty is still in effect, but it isn’t carried out immediately; rather it’s carried out over time through heart attacks brought on by stress and anxiety.
Jesus said, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (Matthew 6:34)
In our fast-paced world rest has never been more important. So, follow God’s law and rest, and let the Lord refresh you for the day and week ahead.
