Thought for Today: “Take Time to Reboot”

Years ago, when our computers had problems, we were told to reboot them. God has told us to apply this same concept to our lives. When we’re stressed and ready to hang it up, He tells us to “reboot.”

“Six days do your work, but on the seventh day do not work, so that your ox and your donkey may rest, and the slave born in your household and the foreigner living among you may be refreshed.” (Exodus 23:12)

The Sabbath is not just good advice or a suggestion from God. It is a command, and if someone violated God’s law, they paid for it with their life.

Today, this death penalty is still in effect, but it isn’t carried out immediately; rather, it’s carried out over time through heart attacks brought on by stress and anxiety.

Jesus said, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (Matthew 6:34).

In our fast-paced world, rest has never been more important. So follow God’s law by resting, and let the Lord refresh you for the day and week ahead.
