A Scripture and a Prayer: “Believe and be Comforted”

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.” (John 14:1)

Prayer:

Lord, to the prophet Isaiah You said, “Comfort Ye, Comfort Ye My people.” This is what we are calling out at this time, as depression, distress, disease, and death seem to be more of the norm than the exception. Jesus, You tell us not to be so anxiety driven that we lose the peace You have given saying, “My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives,” and that’s because it’s a peace that surpasses all human understanding. And so, Lord Jesus, we believe in You, and ask for You to please fill us to overflowing with Your peace. AMEN

A Scripture and a Prayer: “Our Peace Giver”

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, You have made it known that in this world filled with sin and evil that we will have trials and tribulations. But You also ask us not be anxious or worried, because when we’re with You, we can have a peace that You describe as surpassing all understanding. And this means it’s a peace that doesn’t have its basis in man, but in You and in You alone. And so, as You overcame this world filled with evil through Your death and resurrection, we humbly ask that You give us an extra measure of the Holy Spirit to give us Your peace that overcomes our worries. Thank you for Your love and faithfulness. AMEN

A Scripture and a Prayer: “Let Us Praise”

“I have trusted in Your mercy; my heart shall rejoice in Your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, because He has dealt bountifully with me.” (Psalm 13:5-6)

Prayer:

Lord, Your word makes it clear that there is nothing that happens in our lives that You do not know and have not allowed. Therefore, we completely trust in You and in Your mercy and grace to see us through and give, in the end, the victory, because You promised that we are more than conquerors because of Your love for us. We, therefore, lift our hearts and voices to sing Your praises because of Your unfailing love that has so bountifully been poured out within us. AMEN

A Scripture and a Prayer: “An Act of Worship”

“I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God–this is your spiritual act of worship.” (Romans 12:1)

Prayer:

Lord, knowing of Your love, mercy, and grace towards that you extend towards us, not only in the sending of your Son, Jesus, to take our place there upon the cross and dying the death we all deserve so that we can have eternal life, but then raised Him from the dead three days later to reveal that this life isn’t all that there is, but an eternal life in heaven with You is what awaits all those who believe. Therefore, may our lives in the same way be poured out in Your service, so that we can be those living sacrifices that are holy and wholly given over to You. Therefore, may our lives be lived as an act of worship of Your wonderful grace and mercy. AMEN

A Scripture and a Prayer: “The Resurrection: Our Living Hope”

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” (1 Peter 1:3)

Prayer:

Lord and God of all hope, it is to You that we come today to lift our prayers and supplications, and to worship Your holy name. Lord, You overflow with grace and abundant mercy towards us, through the sending Your Son, Jesus, to accomplish the forgiveness of our sins through His death upon the cross, and give to us abundant life both now and for all eternity when He rose from the dead that third day. Even though we don’t deserve it, You, Lord Jesus came to give us this living hope though faith in You, a living hope of eternal life, because You are not dead, but alive. And for this living hope we say thank you. AMEN

A Scripture and a Prayer: “A Living Example”

“Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” (1 Timothy 4:12)

Prayer:

Lord, please help us not to harbor a spirit of offense, so that we do not become offended by the actions, attitudes, and words of others as to our fitness or ability to serve You as You have called. Instead, let our attitudes and language towards others, and how we conduct ourselves by faith and in moral purity be an example of Your love, and then of Your love for others. For You have truly called for us to walk in Your ways, honoring You in all that I do. And this we humbly ask in Jesus’s holy name, AMEN

A Scripture and a Prayer: “The Fullness of Time”

“But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” (Galatians 4:4-6)

Prayer:

Lord, there is nothing by chance that you have not already ordained, set into motion, and will bring to fruition in its proper and right time. Even when it came to the birth of Your Son Jesus, and how You ordained it from the beginning of time itself. We know, therefore, that You have got everything set for our lives and how every circumstance, and every problem and triumph You have ordained. And the greatest of these is our relationship with You through Your Son, Jesus Christ, who died and rose from the dead to provide this wonderful promise for us. And so, it is to You, Abba, Father, that we lift our hearts and voices in worship. AMEN

A Scripture and a Prayer: “Joined With God”

“He who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him … Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?” (1 Corinthians 6:17, 19)

Prayer:

O Lord, I cannot fathom the wonder of Your love towards us, allowing us to be one in heart, soul, and spirit with You. Even the thought of it is beyond our ability to fully comprehend. But even knowing that You have placed within these vessels Your Holy Spirit makes our hearts leap for joy. May we truly be found as those vessels of honor lifting our praise and worship for the glorious grace You have extended. May we be those living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to You. AMEN

A Scripture and a Prayer: Thirsty – “Come and Drink”

“If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” (John 7:37-38)

Prayer:

Lord, without water, no one can live, and the same goes for our spiritual lives, that is, without You, Lord Jesus, no one can have eternal life. Lord, You bid us to Your waters of life to drink and take our fill. Therefore, I humbly ask that You fill us up with Your Living Water, the Holy Spirit, so that we can be a conduit of Your grace and mercy to all those who we encounter today. Thank You for this wonderful provision. AMEN

A Scripture and a Prayer: “Dying to Live”

“Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.” (John 12:25)

Prayer:

Lord, please help us to die to ourselves, that is, to die to our wants and desires so that we may live for You. May our lives be like that of a seed planted for You so that we can grow into that planting that You desire to bring forth the fruit of Your life in the life of others. To do this I ask that You help us hate sin and the evil of this present world, and to love Your kingdom above all else. And let our constant prayer be, “Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Let us then be the source of Your life to this lost and dying world. And this I ask in Jesus’s name. AMEN

A Scripture and a Prayer: “My Strength and Portion”

“My flesh and my heart fail; but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” (Psalm 73:26)

Prayer:

Lord, my prayer this morning is simple. Please be our everything, because there is nothing about us or in us that can stand strong in times of trials and troubles. But You are the one who gives to us the strength to endure. Therefore, we wait upon You and You will give us wings to fly above the storms of life, and the strength to run and not become weary, or even to walk and not faint along the way. You, Lord, are the light of our salvation, and the strength of our lives, of whom or what shall we be afraid, because You will destroy every weapon and scheme that Satan forms against us. And for this we give You thanks. AMEN

God’s Tweet for Today: “Abundant Life”

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10)

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I want to thank you for the wonderful gift of Your Son, Jesus, who, in His love for us gave His life to counter what the thief, Satan, has stolen and killed through His lies, and that is our relationship with You. Therefore, thank you Jesus for Your abundant gift of life, and I pray that we may never take this wonderful gift You have provided for granted through Your death. Help us to be truly grateful. AMEN

A Scripture and a Prayer: “Water of Life”

“Whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” (John 4:14)

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank you for this wonderful gift of Living Water You have provided, and by faith we come and partake. May it produce within us that fountain of water where we will never again thirst for anything less than Your presence welling up into eternal life within us. Further, may we truly give ourselves wholly over to You to be those conduits of the Holy Spirit that will flow from underneath Your throne within our hearts to all those who need that refreshing touch of Your life-giving waters of Your grace and mercy this day. And to You we give thanks. AMEN

A Scripture and a Prayer: “A Peaceful Mindset”

“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” (Isaiah 26:3)

Prayer:

Lord, with everything going on in our lives and in this world, let us freely and truthfully admit that we haven’t had that perfect peace, because while we trust fully in You, our minds seems to have a mind of their own, and they continually think about and worry about all that is going on and what lies ahead. Therefore, Lord, help us capture every thought and obey You and Your word. And we pray that the thoughts of our minds and the meditation of our hearts will be centered on You so that we can experience Your perfect peace in the midst of this imperfect world. And this I ask in Jesus’s name. AMEN

Scripture and a Prayer: “Only God Provides Salvation”

“They cannot redeem themselves from death by paying a ransom to God.” (Psalm 49:7)

Prayer:

Lord, please forgive us for thinking that we can in some way redeem ourselves outside of our coming to and believing in You. We cannot buy our way to heaven, neither can we work our way there. It is only through belief in Your Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life, and no one can come to the Father except through Me.” So, may we never think that we can do it on our own, or that religion or denominationalism is the way. You, Lord Jesus, are the Only Way. And so, thank you Jesus. AMEN

March 12, 2025

A Scripture and a Prayer: “Giving Thanks”

“In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I just want to thank you for everything that You have done, the battles You have fought on our behalf without our even being aware or knowing of them. I also want to thank you for the many prayers You have answered, and the forgiveness You have extended towards us even through our most difficult times. And we want to thank you for everything that You have placed before us regardless of whether it is convenient or not. And we also want to thank You that we can come boldly before Your throne of grace to receive grace and mercy in our time of need. And so, for our present life and the eternal life to come, We Thank You O Lord. AMEN

A Scripture and a Prayer: “God Delights In Healing”

The Lord heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds … The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His mercy. (Psalm 147:3,11)

Prayer:

Lord, what a precious promise You have given, and it is a promise we need to gratefully accept. In Your abundant grace and mercy, bind up our brokenness, and heal our wounds and hurts. For we fear and reverence You, and in so doing, trust in Your promise knowing that You will carry us through every situation and through every one of life’s circumstances until we are in the glory of Your presence in heaven. Thank you, Jesus, for extending to us this wonderful promise through Your death and resurrection. AMEN

Prayer:

Dear Lord, we come before you filled with hope in our hearts for those things that we cannot see but trust Your promises and believe that You will fulfill them in Your perfect timing. We know that You are faithful to Your word and promises, and we, without reserve receive what only You can do. Help us, therefore, wait with patience and unwavering faith. Thank you for Your wonderful love and amazing grace and being with us through this life journey of faith. And this I ask in Jesus’s name. AMEN

February 18, 2025

A Scripture and a Prayer: “God’s Living Water”

“If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked Him and He would have given you living water.” (John 4:10)

Prayer:

Lord, forgive us for seeking answers as to why we feel so dry and empty through something other than You and that relationship with You. Instead, help us find that source of everlasting life and satisfaction in You through a living and loving relationship with Jesus, who is that living water flowing like a river into the depths of our soul and spirit. And flow within our hearts and through our lives the Holy Spirit as You promised that out of our heart will flow the Holy Spirit as that river of living water. This I pray in Jesus’s name. AMEN

Prayer:

Lord, Your word is truly profitable to equip us for whatever lies ahead, but also to bring health to our bodies, souls, and spirits. Therefore, help us to pay attention to what You are saying, and give us spiritual ears to hear Your words for our lives. Let Your word truly be a lamp unto our feet, and a light unto our path. And may Your Word nourish our soul and spirit this day and help make a difference for You in all we meet. AMEN
