Thought For Today: “One Thing Remains”

Human love is short-lived, which helps explain the high divorce rate we’re experiencing. The good news is that God’s love isn’t like human love. God’s love is forever.

“I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself.” (Psalm 89:2)

In fact, among the top three – faith, hope, and love – we are told that the greatest is love.

“And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians 13:13)

This is what I love about the song by Jesus Culture, “One Thing Remains.” The refrain says, “Your love never fails and never gives up. It never runs out on me. On and on and on and on it goes. It overwhelms and satisfies my soul, and I never ever have to be afraid. One thing remains.”

At the end of the description of love, the Apostle Paul makes this one last observation, “Love never fails” (1 Corinthians 13:8).
