Today’s 333 Devotional: “Weeping Nights; Joyful Mornings”
Living in this world isn’t easy. There are all sorts of things Satan has designed to bring and keep us down. But greater is the Lord within us than all that Satan throws against us (1 John 4:4). So no matter how down we may be, God’s joy will lift us up to even greater heights.
King David had his share of weeping nights, but also joyful mornings.
“For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” (Psalm 30:5)
David endured some weeping nights.
“I am worn out from my groaning. All night long I flood my bed with weeping and drench my couch with tears.”(Psalm 6:6)
Yet, no matter how much weeping David endured He knew God would relieve him, therefore, David able to have joyful mornings.
We see this when David numbered the people, which displeased the Lord. God gave David three choices, and David chose to fall into the hands of the Lord because He knew God’s mercy.
David experienced a weeping night as 70,000 died because of his sin, but God withheld the angel’s sword from further destruction, and when David saw the angel sheathe his sword the weeping night turned into a joyful morning.
David could praise God knowing that while His anger lasts for a moment, His favor lasts a lifetime. And while weeping may endure for a night, joy comes in the morning!
When night falls and we become tired and weary from a full day, we lay our heads upon our pillows fully assured that the sun will rise in the morning.
So it is with God’s anger and our sorrow. It’s temporary, but God’s grace and mercy are new every morning, and He is ready to allow the Son of His glory to rise upon you.
Please know that whatever you may be going through, God’s favor and mercy will come followed by His joy.
