Thought For Today: “The Wondrous Cross”
“But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.” (Galatians 6:14)
It is the preaching of the cross, the preaching of the death of the Lord Jesus Christ on that cross that is at the very heart of the Christian gospel and message. And it is in the cross that Apostle Paul boasts and glories. It is the central theme of Christianity and the thing that matters the most above everything else.
When I think of this, I remember some of the lyrics of the song, “The Wondrous Cross.”
When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of Glory died
My richest gain I count but loss
And pour contempt on all my pride
O the wonderful cross, O the wonderful cross
Bids me come and die and find that I may truly live
O the wonderful cross, O the wonderful cross
All who gather here by grace draw near and bless Your name
