Today’s Devotional: “Grace at The Center”

Our faith activates God’s grace, and grace puts God at the center of it all, which means our salvation is entirely God’s work, a gift, and nothing we can accomplish on our own.

Now, the standard definition of grace is “God’s unmerited favor,” which is correct. God loves to bless all who don’t deserve it, including each of us.

Grace is part of God’s nature. That’s why it’s important for us to understand His grace, because the more we understand it, the more we’ll be drawn to God and love Him.

So, what exactly is grace?

Grace” is God giving us what we don’t deserve, namely His blessings. We deserve punishment for our sins, but instead God gives us the blessings of forgiveness, salvation, and heaven.

The Greek word for grace means an acceptable act, benefit, or favor. It is something given without any expectation of a return in kind; hence, it is a gift, freely given.

Our salvation is not given based on our ability but on God’s generosity. It’s a gift freely given by God, based on our faith in Him, not on anything we do to earn it.

Grace puts God at the center, making us completely dependent on Him if we ever want to attain eternal life in heaven.

Grace is at the center because it puts God at the center. We receive eternal life through faith in God’s gracious act of redemption, namely, the sending of His Son, Jesus Christ, as the sacrifice for our sins.

“Therefore, it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure” (Romans 4:16a).

God’s grace is available to those who, by faith, believe and put God at the center of their lives, making Jesus Christ both Savior and Lord.
