A Scripture and a Prayer: “Don’t Trust Your Heart”
“He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, but whoever walks wisely will be delivered.” (Proverbs 28:26)
Prayer:
Lord, help us not trust in our hearts on those matters which we need help in, because, as You state, the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, and the only one who truly knows it is You. Your word also states that whatever we value most in this life, is what we will find our hearts dwelling upon. Lord, I know that within us nothing good exists, because there is no one who is good, and there is no one who is righteous but You. Therefore, Lord, help break our hearts with what breaks Your heart. Help us to walk in Your wisdom and in Your ways, and it is only then that our hearts will line up with Yours, and it is only then that we can trust our hearts in this world that is out to steal them. And this I ask in Jesus’s name. AMEN
