Scripture and a Prayer: “Consider Others Over Self”

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” (Philippians 2:3-4)

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I ask in Jesus’s name that You purify our hearts from all that is displeasing to You. That You search us and see if there is any selfish ambition and conceit lying deep within. Please take away anything that is of self and “what’s in it for us,” attitude as we deal with others. Give us the same heart as John the Baptist who said, “He (Jesus) must increase, and I must decrease.” Therefore, we I ask that You help us walk in all humility making the needs of others more important than our own, and to walk in the Great Commandment loving You above all else through loving others as You loved us. Thank you for giving us this great opportunity to make a difference for You this day. AMEN
