Keep On Praying

Today’s Devotional: “Keep On Praying”

It is by faith in God’s word and His promises that our prayer is answered.

Jesus addresses this reasoning in His parable of the unjust judge.

“Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart … Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth? (Luke 18:1, 8b)

When our prayers go unanswered, it is often easier to stop praying because we believe God may have a reason for withholding His answer.

Yet we see a different story with Abraham, who waited years for the promise of a son to be fulfilled.

“Who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, ‘So shall your descendants be.’” (Romans 4:18)

The question is, why does it sometimes take so long for God’s answer to come? Maybe it is best to think in terms of sowing and reaping. It takes time for the seed to germinate, grow into what it was meant to be, and then be harvested.

Our heavenly Father plants the seed of His word and promise in our hearts, but only He knows the moment when our soul, by faith, is ready to receive the blessing. Only God knows when that seed of promise is ready for harvest.

And it is faith in God’s promises and His word that grows our soul and spirit into that place of reception.

However, there is a danger when we start inserting our thoughts into God’s promises, thinking that maybe it is not God’s will. Please know that if God gave the promise, it is His will for our lives.

Therefore, let’s give God time to bring the fullness of His presence and the fulfillment of His promises into our lives and to fulfill His purpose. He is not only willing but also eager to provide.
