Thought For Today: “To Wait On God”
What does it mean to wait upon the Lord?
Why is it important to answer this question correctly? It’s because God gives a blessing to those who learn to wait upon Him.
The Lord says, “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)
But how do we wait upon the Lord?
The Psalmist tells us to rest in the Lord and to wait patiently for Him (Psalm 37:7). But does this mean we do nothing?
When I think about waiting on the Lord, I think about the person who serves at a restaurant. They are called waiters or servers. Waiting is also an active verb, not a passive noun.
And so, to wait upon the Lord is to rest in Him while serving Him by serving others and His purposes.
