Thought for Today: “Watch and be Ready”
On the night Jesus was betrayed He went off to pray asking Peter, James, and John to watch with Him. But they fell asleep while they waited.
When Jesus came back, He woke them saying, “What? Could you not watch with Me one hour? Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Matthew 26:40-41)
Jesus is indeed coming back, and He desires that we watch and wait for His return. Unfortunately, many of us have been lulled asleep with just living life.
But the Apostle Paul said, “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” (Galatians 6:9)
So, stay the course and find God’s pleasure.
“Weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning … You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy.” (Psalm 30:5b,11)
