Thought For Today: “When Jesus Speaks”
Back in the 1980’s there were a series of commercials that took over the airwaves, and they surrounded the Investment banking firm of E.F. Hutton. These commercials centered around people in everyday settings, where one person would say to another, “Well, my broker is E.F. Hutton, and he says …” and everyone around them would stop what they were doing to listen.
And the slogan was, “When E.F. Hutton talks, people listen.”
When the Lord wanted to speak to Samuel, his response was, “Speak, your servant is listening.” (1 Samuel 3:10)
And it should be no different today. When people ask us a question about whatever is going on in their life, or in the world, our response should be, “Well, Jesus says,” or “The Bible says.” And the reason is because these are the only answers that make sense and that are true.
In Jesus’s prayer to the Father, He said, “Sanctify them (that is, set them apart) by Your truth. Your word is truth.” (John 17:17)
