Waiting With Expectancy

Thought For Today: “Waiting With Expectancy”

“It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.” (Luke 2:26)

Simeon was waiting with expectancy because the Holy Spirit had revealed a promise.

Waiting with expectancy is about being filled with the Holy Spirit, allowing Him to speak and direct us through time in prayer and God’s word.

Unfortunately, many no longer possess this spirit of expectancy of God doing something new and wonderful in our lives. Instead, we are expecting the worst as we look at the news, and what we we’re presently experiencing.

But consider Simeon. Although we are never told how long he waited there in the temple for the coming Messiah, what we do know is that it was in a time of great anguish as the Roman Empire was ruling Israel with an iron fist.

Yet, he waited for the promise, and he waited patiently and with great expectancy, and God rewarded such a commitment.

Lord, help us wait with a spirit of expectancy, expecting You to do great and wonderful things, and for You, Jesus, to return and come into Your temple once again. May we cry, “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.”
