Today’s Thought: “Use Time Wisely”
“See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:15-16)
To redeem means to buy back, but we cannot buy back time because once it’s gone, it’s gone for good. So, what Paul is telling us to do is to seize every opportunity for the Lord.
We are always in danger of becoming preoccupied with things that do not matter, things that are not eternal, and things that are not in the will of God. Therefore, to make the most of our time, we must bring it under God’s control and make the most of every opportunity He provides.
This is exactly what Solomon tells us.
“In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening do not withhold your hand; for you do not know which will prosper, either this or that, or whether both alike will be good.” (Ecclesiastes 11:6)
We need to use every ounce of time God gives us to be in His word, in prayer, in worship, and in fellowship, because we don’t know when our last day on earth will be or when Jesus will return. We only know that it has been given unto us once to die and then judgment, and that Jesus will return (Hebrews 9:27-28).
