Trusting God

Today’s 333 Devotional: “Trusting God”

With all that’s going on, the need to trust God when we don’t understand has proven to be difficult to say the least.

When the children of Israel were finally free from their bondage to the Egyptians, they began their march to freedom. But it wasn’t long before God led them to what they considered to be a dead end and certain death. God led them to the Red Sea with no visible means to cross it, with mountains on both sides hemming them in, and the Egyptian army behind ready to wipe them out.

But God was preparing them for a miracle. He was preparing them for His deliverance. God hadn’t made a mistake bringing them this way. What they didn’t see was the path God had prepared for them to take at the bottom of the Red Sea.

Years later they said, “Your road led through the sea, your pathway through the mighty waters — a pathway no one knew was there!” (Psalm 77:19)

Some of us are facing dead ends – financial, emotional, relational, physical, and spiritual dead ends. But these are not walls to dread, but doorways to walk through. God can see a path we don’t know is there.

Maybe the path is dark, but if we keep moving by faith, asking God for His guidance, trusting in His lead and listening to Him, then God will make a way even when there seems to be no way.

Solomon said, “The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day.” (Proverbs 4:18)

When dawn comes, it isn’t fully light, but as we continue, we’ll experience the full light of day.

The longer we walk on this journey of faith, trusting God’s guidance, things will become clearer and more understandable. Right now, however, it may seem like it’s barely light outside, but as we continue forward God will reveal more of the path that lies ahead.
