Thought For Today: “Trust and Lean”

Trusting in God when it doesn’t make sense to the natural mind seems illogical. Yet in these times, God gives us the greatest victories, which could be an answer to prayer or the strength to deal with disappointments.

When the Bible tells us to trust in the Lord with all our heart, and life takes a turn for the worse, it’s hard to trust God. Yet in these times, we need to lean on the Lord even more.

The word “lean” conveys the same meaning as “trusting.” It means to rest on or be supported by something or someone. Therefore, to lean upon the Lord and stop trusting in self is to trust in God rather than in ourselves.

When the dreaded D’s—disappointment, discouragement, despair, and depression—attack, it’s not the time to fold our wings; instead, it’s time to trust and lean on the Lord and spread our wings. Then we will mount up with wings like eagles, run without fainting, and walk without growing weary. (Isaiah 40:31)

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
