Thought For Today: “Time to Get Stirred”
When the need is known, God begins stirring the hearts of His people to fulfill His plans and purposes.
This is seen in Moses telling the people of the need to build His tabernacle.
“Then everyone came whose heart was stirred, and everyone whose spirit was willing, and they brought the Lord’s offering for the work of the tabernacle of meeting, for all its service, and for the holy garments.” (Exodus 35:21)
But this is not just a message about giving; it’s also a message about listening to the Holy Spirit and God’s directions for furthering His Kingdom.
When God gave Peter the vision of a great net coming down, He said to Peter when Peter was hesitant to follow God’s commandment, God said, “What God has cleansed you must not call common” (Acts10:15).
It was then that the Holy Spirit told Peter to go with men from Cornelius’s household, a Roman centurion (Acts10:19). The end result was not only was Cornelius and his whole household saved, but it was then that Peter understood that the gospel was not just for the Jewish people, but for the world.
God did a great work in expanding His Kingdom because Peter’s heart was stirred, and He followed God’s direction.
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” (Revelation 2:29)
