Thought for Today: “The Wisdom of Mortality”
Life is Not a Numbers Game!
Asking God to help us number our days is not a game; rather, it’s a sure bet.
Moses asked God, “Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” (Psalm 90:12)
The Bible tells us that life is fleeting and that, compared to eternity, it is short (Psalm 89:47-48). Therefore, we need to ask God to help us during this time by giving us the wisdom to live this life to its fullest and for the kingdom of God.
King David prayed, “Lord, make me to know my end, and what is the measure of my days, That I may know how frail I am. (Psalm 39:4)
Solomon understood this, that it is a good thing to contemplate this reality, saying, “It is better to go to the house of mourning than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart.” (Ecclesiastes 7:2)
