Today’s 333 Devotional: “The Therefore of Surrender”
Scientists have discovered there are 26 lakes underneath the Sahara Desert. Realizing this it’s heartbreaking to think people are dying of thirst because these hidden resources have not been tapped.
Many of the spiritual resources given to us by God lie untapped in our lives and in the church as well, and that’s because we have not gone deep enough. Some people today are missing out on what the Christian life is all about and are settling for less than what God intended.
To tap into these resources, we need to surrender our lives to Jesus Christ. In a nutshell, we get the most out of what God has given by fully surrendering them back to Him.
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.” (Romans 12:1)
The word, “therefore,” is not just a transition word, it has a meaning, therefore we need to ask what is it “there for.”
Paul is making a shift from doctrine to practice. Paul is saying that based on everything he has said up to this point; this is how we put it into practice.
Even though we are all guilty and deserve to die, we have been declared righteous through faith in Christ, and will ever face condemnation again (Romans 5:8).
Therefore, we should fully surrender our lives to Christ.
