Thursday’s Scripture and a Prayer: “The Immediacy of the Call”
“‘Come, follow me,’ Jesus said, ‘and I will send you out to fish for people.’ At once they left their nets and followed him.” (Mark 1:17-18)
Prayer:
Lord, help us to always realize that Your call for us to be fishers of men isn’t for some time later, or sometime in the future, but it is Your calling for our lives today. Help us to never put our own desires in front of Your Great Commission to go and make disciples of all nations. Open our eyes to see the world around us, from my family and friends to those within my community and beyond with Your eyes. May we see them as You see them as those in need of the hope of Your salvation. It’s as You say in the prayer You taught us, “Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Therefore, Lord, may we be like Isaiah who responded to Your call, “Here am I, Lord, send me.” And this I ask in Jesus’s name. AMEN
