Thought For Today: “Thanking God In Advance”
Faith is expressed as gratitude to God before receiving.
“By faith the walls of Jericho fell, after the army had marched around them for seven days.” (Hebrews 11:30)
Jericho was the most fortified city in the land of Canaan. God instructed them to march around it for seven days in silence, and on the last day, to march around the city seven times. After the final circuit, they were to shout.
I wonder what they shouted. I believe they were praising God, thanking Him for the victory He had promised.
Faith isn’t just believing that God can, because God can do anything, whether we believe it or not. Faith is trusting that God will act, even when we don’t see or understand it.
“Therefore, I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” (Mark 11:24)
Faith involves trusting God and expressing gratitude, and it’s that faith that brought down the walls of Jericho.
