Tuesday’s Thought: “Seeing What God Sees”
Physical sight can easily deceive; therefore, we need the Lord to open our spiritual sight so that we can see with His eyes the true reality that surrounds us.
This is seen in all its various aspects from the story of what the prophet Elisha prayed for when all his servant could see was the vast Syrian army that surrounded the tiny city of Dothan where they were staying.
In 2 Kings 6:15-17 it says, “When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. ‘Oh, my lord, what shall we do?’ the servant asked. ‘Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.’ And Elisha prayed, ‘O Lord, open his eyes so he may see.’ Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”
And so, when we see the problems piling up around us, and when it looks like everything is going down into the pit, pray and ask God to open the eyes of our spirit to see our situation from His perspective.
Ask the Lord to give us eyes to see, and ears to hear what the Holy Spirit is doing in these trying times we find ourselves in. And let Him open us to the wonders that we have yet to know, understand, or even consider.
