Thought for Today: “Rightly Aligned”
Jehosaphat aligned himself with Ahab and Isreal saying that they were the same as himself and Judah.
“Jehoshaphat said, “I am as you are, and my people are your people; we will join you in the war.” (2 Chronicles 18:3)
But that is not true. Judah followed God and were His people, while Ahab and Israel followed false gods and were alienated from God.
“But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.” (Isaiah 59:2)
In our story, when determining whether to go to war, Jehosaphat wanted to hear from God and His prophet, not the 400 false prophets of Israel. But when the prophet Micaiah prophesied not to go because it will end in ruin, Jehosaphat ignored God’s word and went anyway. Jehosaphat barely escaped with his life, and God rebuked him as he returned to Jerusalem.
Jehu the seer said, ‘Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord?’” (2 Chronicles 19:2a)
How many Christians are still aligned with the world, and while they go to church and listen to the sermons, wanting to hear what God has to say, like Jehosaphat, they have no intention of changing their ways.
And then they wonder why they’re always defeated in their Christian Walk.
