Thursday’s Thought: “Reignition Required”
We all need to reignite our lives so that we can continue moving forward in our relationship with Jesus Christ.
Let me use the following illustration.
A customer wrote a letter of complaint to a company he had bought a knife from. He said that as he used his new knife it had gotten dull, and he had expected that the knife would last a lot longer when he bought it.
The company responded, “It will. All you have to do is sharpen it.”
No matter how sharp a knife might be, if it isn’t re-sharpened, it will get dull. In like manner, no matter when we came into that saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, making Him our Savior and Lord, if we don’t get our lives reignited by the Holy Spirit, we’ll find ourselves getting further and further away from God’s original design, purpose, and plan.
Before His death and resurrection, Jesus said, “It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.” (John 16:7)
It was Jesus’s desire that the Holy Spirit become implanted in our lives so that He will lead and guide us into all truth (John 16:13).
And to Timothy Paul said, “Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.” (2 Timothy 1:6)
And so, to move forward into the plans and purposes of God, we need to get ourselves reignited by the Holy Spirit.
