Thought for Today: “Really, Rationalizations”

When I look at the story of Aaron making the golden calf, what he said to Moses when his sin was made known has be chuckling to myself. He rationalized his sinful action with one of the more humorous quotes in the Bible.

He said, “I cast it (the gold earrings) into the fire, and this calf came out.” (Exodus 32:24)

Really!!!

Unfortunately, and sadly, how true is this in our lives.

And it is like this with us. Rather than fessing up to the wrong and sin we’ve done, we try to rationalize it away. And I wonder if God is responding to us, “Really!”

The moral of the story? I think we know.
