Thought for Today” “Our Time of Worship”
“Oh, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness! Tremble before Him, all the earth.” (Psalm 96:9)
God calls us to be holy, as it says in Leviticus 19:2, “You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy.”
The word ‘Holy,’ in the Bible means to be separated from all that is not of God. It is to be separated unto Him and for Him. God Himself is holy, for He is separated from all that is sin, and He is just and faithful. So, to worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness should then be our goal. And we do so with all those who surround the throne of God in heaven, from the living creatures to all the angelic host as they sing day and night, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.”
Therefore, our worship of Jesus should never be complacent, or just a time to sing some songs. It should be a time to lift out our voices and join the heavenly choir. Maybe this may help. We worship the One who created the universe, not to mention each one of us. And He came to this earth to die upon the cross for our sins so that we can be His children, and part of His glorious kingdom throughout eternity.
And so, when we gather, let’s do so by separating ourselves from all that is going on around us, and in the beauty of holiness worship Him. And such praise and worship can’t be anything other than pure joy, that which will shake this world we live in.
