Tuesday’s Thought: “No More Stumbling in Darkness”
Isaiah gives a very somber warning to God’s people as they continued in their sin with no confession and a turning from it, that is, they never repented. They looked for God’s justice and righteousness, but it was far from them.
They said, “Nor does righteousness overtake us; we look for light, but there is darkness! For brightness, but we walk in blackness! We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes; we stumble at noonday as at twilight; we are as dead men in desolate places.” (Isaiah 59:9b-10)
But today, we need no longer stumble in the darkness of sin trying to find our way, because Jesus came to bring us God’s eternal light to light our way. Therefore, when we follow Jesus there’s no stumbling in the darkness, and that’s because Jesus is the light of the world.
“Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
He has also given to us a source to help us along, His word. The Psalmist said, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105)
