Thought for Today: “No Heavenly Curve”
In school, teachers often grade on a curve, meaning they adjust students’ grades and test scores to make sure students not only learn the material but also get better grades.
One teacher said, “The point of a test is not the score, but to teach your students how to learn new things.”
While this seems good to the student and helps the teacher determine whether their class is receiving the required information, God doesn’t use the same grading system. There are no “B,” “C,” or “D” grades. There is only an “A” or an “F.”
God doesn’t grade our lives on a curve, and there are no grades. It’s either pass or fail. If your sins aren’t forgiven, you don’t pass and you don’t go to heaven.
What does God base this on? God judges through the cross. The passing grade is belief in Jesus Christ and faith that He paid the price for our sins on the cross.
The Apostle Paul said, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)
The Apostle Peter said that Jesus “Bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness; by whose stripes you were healed.” (1 Peter 2:24)
