Thought For Today: “No Greater Love”

Christmas is known as a time of giving presents, and that may be because God gave the greatest gift of them all.

In John’s gospel Jesus said, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

Jesus went on to say in John 15:13-16, “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command … You did not choose me, but I chose you.”

Paul tells us of God’s great love for us through Jesus’s death, saying, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

Jesus’s death for us upon the cross is the greatest message and gift of love we can ever receive. Therefore, if you can give any gift this Christmas give this message of hope of God’s unending love.

It truly is the gift that keeps on giving, and that is because it will last for all eternity.
