It’s All About Faith

Today’s Devotional: “It’s All About Faith”

Over the years, I’ve seen many believers give up on their faith in Jesus Christ, and there are many reasons why. Maybe they’ve prayed, but either they or their loved ones still contracted an illness or disease, or their loved one died. It may also involve an accident or a financial setback.

Many are going through trials, afflictions, sufferings, and struggles like never before, and it’s getting confusing, but they’re told to keep the faith, that God is working out His plan and purpose for our lives, and that everything will work out to the good (Romans 8:1).

But seeing what they’re going through, the faith they’re told about makes no sense. It goes beyond understanding and defies all reason and logic. Therefore, they are putting their faith on the sidelines, or worse, giving up on faith altogether.

The Bible says this is what it’s going to be like in these last days, as the love of many will grow cold (Matthew 24:12), and that many will fall away from the faith (2 Thessalonians 2:3; 1 Timothy 4:1).

To prevent this outcome, it’s important to understand what faith is about so we don’t allow the enemy of our souls, Satan, to gain a foothold when life doesn’t go our way.

God tells us to believe, but for us humans, there are a whole lot of gray areas that come with that word.

But for such belief to take root, it begins with a relationship, because, as we have experienced, rules, rituals, and religion simply don’t work. What we need is faith, because without it, any kind of relationship with God is impossible.

The writer of Hebrews says, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6)
