Thursday’s Thought: “Is the Spirit Stirring?”
“So the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the governor, and the spirit of Joshua the high priest, and the spirit of the people; and they came and worked on the house of the Lord.” (Haggai 1:14 paraphrased)
The people of Judah started out strong after they returned from their Babylonian captivity. But, over time, they started to get complacent and content with the way things were rather than what they Lord wanted.
And so, the Lord sent the prophet Haggai to wake them up.
“‘Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, and this temple to lie in ruins?’ Now therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘Consider your ways! You have sown much, and bring in little; you eat, but do not have enough; you drink, but you are not filled with drink; you clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; and he who earns wages, earns wages to put into a bag with holes.” (Haggai 1:4-6)
Even with the COVID pandemic over, the damage has been done. And now in this financial crisis, it continues to wreak havoc as fear is rapidly replacing faith, and we are seeing the time of Haggai in believer’s lives.
But the Holy Spirit is calling for us to return to our first love relationship with Christ, and to return to the faith that will move mountains. It’s time to repent and return to God and to His word.
Therefore, it’s never time to sit content or hide in the corner until the times change in our favor. If we want revival, if we want to see the blessing of the Lord upon our lives, country, and world, then we must be about the job of building God’s kingdom.
