“Thought For Today: “In God Alone”
The last Psalms of David, Psalms 146-150, are known as the Psalms of praise, because they all begin with, “Praise the Lord.”
This brings us to a turning point in our relationship with God. And the key to that relationship is that we need to praise Him for all that He has done, and for all that He will do. But mainly, we are to praise God, and God alone, and not in anything or anyone else.
“Let them praise the name of the Lord, for His name alone is exalted; His glory is above earth and heaven.” (Psalm 148:13)
Our praise should be in God alone, and nothing that man can devise. This is brought out earlier in Psalm 146:3-4. “Do not trust in princes, in mortal man, in whom there is no salvation. His spirit departs, he returns to the earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.”
No matter what man devises, through his education, science, and philosophy, it can never last and doesn’t stand the test of time. Only in God is our salvation and eternity found.
“Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God.” (Psalm 146:5)
Therefore, let us praise the Lord God, and Him alone. Psalm 150:6 says, “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.”
