Thought For Today: “His Presence in Our Present”
Whenever I read Jesus’s description of what it means to abide, where He is the vine and we are the branches (John 15:1-5), my mind races to understand what this means in my present reality.
Abiding in Christ doesn’t take us out of the daily activities. Instead, it brings the divine reality of God’s presence into our present realities. It’s where we become aware of the presence of God residing within and drawing our daily spiritual nourishment from Him.
The benefit of abiding is receiving from God His grace, mercy, and love, not to mention a renewed sense of purpose along with His plan for our lives, and an infusion of supernatural energy.
So, abiding in Christ is an intimate relationship with Jesus in the everyday moments of life. It’s the joy of being fully in His presence in the midst of our present.
Further, nothing could be more wonderful than knowing and sensing the presence of God, and that it’s God’s greatest desire that we come into His presence.
“You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” (Psalm 16:11)
