Thought For Today: “Heart Belief”

It’s not what you know; rather it’s what you believe!

The Children of Israel, knowing the holiness of God and that no one can speak with Him face to face, asked Moses to mediate with God for them, and everything God told to Moses they would do.

And the Lord said, “They are right in all that they have spoken.” (Deuteronomy 5:28)

But the Lord then said, “Oh, that they had such a heart in them that they would fear Me and always keep all My commandments, that it might be well with them and with their children forever.” (Deuteronomy 5:29)

You see, while our minds have great ideals, it’s our hearts that puts them into practice. It’s not the intelligence of the mind where we falter; it’s in the desire of the heart.

The Bible says that as a person thinks in their heart, that is who they are (Proverbs 23:7).

And in the end, if we fail to listen and obey, this is now how the Lord sees us.

“Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, but have removed their hearts far from Me.” (Isaiah 29:13a)

It all comes down to a heart belief. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
