Thought for Today: “Having Spiritual Eyes”

It’s All About Seeing What God Sees

Physical sight can easily deceive, but when God opens our spiritual sight; we see the true reality.

It is this that Jesus told to the Apostle Paul when he was one his way to Damascus.

Jesus said, “Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen and will see of me.” (Acts 26:16)

It was such a request that the prophet Elisha asked for his servant, for God to open His eyes to the reality of the situation. Elisha’s servant saw only what was lined up against them in the Aramean army, but He didn’t see what God had lined up against them.

It says in 2 Kings 6:15-17, “When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. ‘Oh, my lord, what shall we do?’ the servant asked. ‘Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.’ And Elisha prayed, ‘O Lord, open his eyes so he may see.’ Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”

Therefore, we need to pray and ask God to open the eyes of our spirit to see our situation from His perspective, instead of our own or of this world.
