Have You Been Reckoned?

Today’s Devotional: “Have You Been Reckoned?”

The Apostle Paul uses the word “reckon” several times in chapter four, speaking of Jesus’s righteousness being counted and imputed to us by faith (Romans 4:2-25).

“Reckoned” is an accounting term meaning something is charged to someone’s account.

In chapter six, Paul uses this word again, explaining that a believer is reckoned dead to sin and alive in Christ.

“Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:11)

And so, by faith we are reckoned, counted, and identified, not only in Christ’s death but also in His resurrection. And when we are, we are reckoned, counted, and identified with the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ.

Are you convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are dead to sin and alive to God through faith in Jesus Christ?

“This is a faithful saying: for if we died with Him, we shall also live with Him.” (2 Timothy 2:11)

This conviction will help every believer on this journey of faith and keep them from continually walking in sin.

“How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? … Knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin.” (Romans 6:2, 6-7)

So, the question is, “Have You Been Reckoned?”
