Thought for Today: “Have We Missed the Spirit”

“Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort?” (Galatians 3:3)

Have we been missing the mark on this one?

When we came to faith it was through the leading and drawing of the Holy Spirit, and it is the Holy Spirit who empowers believers and the church today.

Therefore, if we began in the Spirit why are we trying to perfect ourselves and ministry through our own works and righteous?

Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would guide us into all truth (John 16:13) and empower us to live for Him and be His witnesses to the world (Acts 1:8)

Let’s take a moment then and pause to ask the simple question, “Is it the Holy Spirit or me?” And then let’s pray for the Holy Spirit’s empowering.

“‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts.” (Zechariah 4:6)
