Has Somebody Wronged You?

Talk about being wronged, Joseph was sold into slavery by his own brothers, but when the opportunity came to get back at them, Joseph said, “Do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life.” (Genesis 45:4)

Joseph realized something we must all realize, and that is what was done was a part of God’s plan. When the famine came that threatened the entire region, Joseph, now second in command in Egypt, was able to save his family.

Jesus forgave us of the wrong we did to Him. He died upon the cross for our sins. He said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do” (Luke 23:34).

Jesus also realized this was the Father’s will for our salvation. He said, “Not My will, but Yours, be done” (Luke 22:42).

If Jesus and Joseph accepted the Father’s will and forgave the wrongs done against them, can we not do the same and forgive the wrongs others have done against us?

Jesus said unless we’re able to forgive, then our heavenly Father will not forgive us. He said, “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses” (Matthew 6:14-15).

Peter asked Jesus how often we are to forgive others for what they have done? Jesus replied, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven” (Matthew 18:22). In today’s terms Jesus said, “Forgive as many times as needed for the forgiveness to be complete.”

And if suffering has occurred and we find ourselves in a somewhat diminished state as a result, let God’s promise be ours, that He will work it out for ours and the kingdom’s greatest good (Romans 8:28).

Joseph ended up saying that what his brothers had meant for evil, God meant it for good (Genesis 50:20).
