Today’s Devotional: “Grasping God’s Wisdom”
Only through the intercession of the Holy Spirit can we know the mind of God for our lives.
Regarding the Holy Spirit, the prophet Isaiah states, “Who has directed the Spirit of the Lord, or as His counselor has taught Him? With whom did He take counsel, and who instructed Him, and taught Him in the path of justice? Who taught Him knowledge, and showed Him the way of understanding?” (Isaiah 40:13-14)
There is nothing God doesn’t know; therefore, there is nothing we can tell God. This is important because when we pray, instead of telling God what we want, we need to listen to the Holy Spirit and hear God’s take on the matter.
The Bible says, “For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.” (1 Corinthians 2:11)
How can we know what only God knows so we can live in harmony with His will? It is through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, because only God can know the thoughts of God, and the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Godhead.
Therefore, there is nothing we can hide from God. In Psalm 139:7-8, King David said, “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.”
And while we may try to rationalize and give excuses for our sins, God knows the real reason for them. “You have set our iniquities before You, our secret sins in the light of Your presence.” (Psalm 90:8)
Therefore, we need to ask the Holy Spirit to fill us daily so we can repent and so that God’s wisdom can be ours to live our lives by.
