Thought For Today: “God’s Timing is Always Best”
More often than not, we want to tell God not only what we want, but also when we want it. This is where our trust in God comes in knowing that He knows what is best and will give us what we need at the right time.
God knowing what is the best for us is brought out in His promise to give Israel the Promised Land.
He said, “I will not drive them out from before you in one year, lest the land become desolate and the beast of the field become too numerous for you. Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you have increased, and you inherit the land.” (Exodus 23:29-30)
God knew if He just handed the land over that His people weren’t strong or numerous enough to occupy it. Therefore God would deliver it in portions so that it wouldn’t become desolate and unproductive.
God has great and precious promises just waiting, but instead of turning them over all at once He’s waiting for us to be spiritually ready to enjoy and occupy what He has prepared for us.
We are told in Psalm 27:14, “Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!”
