God’s Tempered Judgment

Thought for Today: “God’s Tempered Judgment”

God wonderfully tempers His judgments with a great deal of mercy.

Mercy has to do with both kindness and compassion, and may best be defined as God withholding the punishment, we deserve due to our sins and rebellion against God. Grace, on the other hand, is God giving to us what we do not deserve, that is blessings instead of judgment.

Consider Moses. He disobeyed God, and his punishment was that he could not enter the land. So, what did God do? He took him to the top of Mount Nebo and showed him the land of promise.

It’s a great blessing knowing that God wonderfully tempered His judgment against our disobedience, against our sins, with this mercy and grace in sending His Son, Jesus, to take our place, to pay our debt, and to die our death. We deserve eternal death, but God’s gracious gift is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

Can we say “Praise God”
