Thought For Today: “God’s Revealed Love”
We say that God is love. In fact, this is probably what most people who don’t even know God say about Him. But how do they know? How has God revealed His love so that everyone can know it and respond to it?
Jesus’s birth reveals the Father’s love. While humanity was in the darkness of sin, God sent His Son to give the light of life.
“In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” (John 1:4-5)
“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined.” (Isaiah 9:2)
But God the Father has revealed his love to even a greater degree through Jesus, and that is through His death and resurrection. Jesus brings this out in His discussion with Nicodemus saying, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
And so, Jesus is God’s revealed love to this world.
