Thought For Today: “God’s Purpose Doesn’t Change”
In Malachi 3:6, the Lord said to Israel, “For I am the LORD, I do not change; therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.” But later in chapter four we read of God’s judgement, but in His judgment, He is leaving a door of hope.
“For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, and all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble. And the day which is coming shall burn them up … But to you who fear My name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings.” (Malachi 4:1-2)
The coming of the Messiah, the Sun of Righteousness has always been God’s purpose, and that through the Messiah He would redeem and deliver His people. The Apostle Paul points this out in his letter to the Ephesian Church.
“According to the eternal purpose which He (God) accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Ephesians 3:11)
The whole and ultimate purpose of God is for our lives to be intertwined with and locked up in our Lord Jesus Christ. And when we do, we will not experience God’s wrath to come.
“For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Thessalonians 5:9)
