Today’s Devotional: “God’s Medium for Grace and Mercy”
“Moreover, the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more.” (Romans 5:20)
“But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.” (Ephesians 2:13)
Because of the enormity of our sin, God makes all grace and mercy abound toward us through Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the medium through which His grace and mercy are extended toward us.
“Having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” (Ephesians 1:5-7)
The curse of the law has been removed through Jesus’s sacrifice, as He became that curse for us on the cross (Galatians 3:13).
And so, what the law couldn’t accomplish has been secured through Jesus Christ. What the law couldn’t accomplish through the blood of bulls and goats, Jesus’s blood secures, making perfect forever, those who come to believe in Him (Hebrews 10).
“For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” (John 1:17)
Jesus Christ, therefore, is the medium through which God pours out His exceeding grace and mercy.
