Today’s Devotional: “God Shortened Work”
In the end, God will make short work of both sin and Satan.
Satan is making a last-ditch effort to destroy believers in Jesus Christ and His church. He’s engaged in an all-out battle, evident in our world today.
He has opened his mouth like a flood, and we’re seeing the results, as acts of perversity and violence are on the rise and the human mind and heart are growing numb to the effects of sin.
Jesus spoke about these days and said that, overall, lawlessness will abound and the love of many will grow cold (Matthew 24:12). It will be a time when good is called evil and evil is called good (Isaiah 5:20).
But in the end, God will make short work of Satan’s schemes.
“For He will finish the work and cut it short in righteousness, because the Lord will make a short work upon the earth.” (Romans 9:28)
In fact, Jesus said that if God didn’t make short work of it, no flesh would be saved, but it’s for the sake of God’s people that these days will be shortened (Matthew 24:21-22).
But why doesn’t God do this now? What is God waiting for? Why must there be any more pain and suffering?
I believe the answer is that God doesn’t want there to be any more pain and suffering.
You’re probably thinking I just lost it. But listen, God is allowing these things to continue so more people can come into the saving knowledge of His Son, Jesus Christ, and avoid an eternity of pain and suffering in hell, which is far worse than any pain and suffering we could ever experience here on earth.
I also believe that God will likewise make short work of the pain and suffering caused by Satan in our lives. He will bring peace and comfort into our situations to minimize and eliminate Satan’s schemes against us.
