Thought For Today: “God Our Shield”

“You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory and the One who lifts up my head.” (Psalm 3:3)

Faith in God shields us from what Satan and the world throw at us to destroy us.

The Apostle Paul tells us to pick up the shield of faith God provides to stop Satan’s fiery attacks. He said, “Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.” (Ephesians 6:16)

Faith in God’s word also protects us from the enemy’s attacks. Solomon said, “Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.” (Proverbs 30:5)

Therefore, let’s place ourselves squarely under God’s shield of faith and receive strength and help in times of need.

King David made this his practice. He said, “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I will praise Him.” (Psalm 28:7)
