Today’s 333 Devotional: “God Made You Unique”
You don’t have to travel far to discover just how much God loves diversity and variety. God made over 300,000 species of beetles. Some might call that creative overkill, but God loves variety.
In one cubic foot of snow there are 18 million individual snowflakes, and not one of them is the same. And while it’s just snow to us, God created each one of them.
God likes variety in people too. God made every one of us individually, and when we look in the mirror, we see just how great and peculiar we are.
The Bible says, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” (Psalm 139:13-14)
This verse gives three foundational truths in how God created you.
First, you’re unique. There’s no one else like you in the entire world.
God doesn’t create carbon copies, only originals. If you travel the entire world, you’ll never find anyone else with the same footprint, fingerprint, or voiceprint. You are unique.
Second, you’re complex. In fact, you’re so complex that you’re even a mystery to yourself.
Sometimes we’ll say or do something that completely surprises us, and we wonder, “Where did that come from?” This is because you’re uniquely complex.
Third, you were created for a purpose.
God made you for a reason. God designed you. It was His idea, and God doesn’t make mistakes. You were planned before you were born. God didn’t just sit down and randomly access a bunch of components and throw it all together and out you came. You were purposefully, personally, and uniquely designed by God. God wanted you to be uniquely you, and that’s who God wants to offer to the world.
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10)
