Thought For Today: “God is With Us”
To have a joyful heart, we need to realize that we do not go through this life alone, because the Lord is with us and the troubles we face will not destroy us. The waters may rise, but they’ll never overflow. While the fires may grow hot, they’ll never burn.
King David said, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.” (Psalm 34:19)
When trouble is all around us, we can be assured the Lord is with us. Then, like David, we can say, “You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” (Psalm 16:11)
Even as Paul and Silas had been beaten within an inch of their lives, they were in the presence of the Lord, their hearts filled with joy. They worshipped the Lord, and God rocked the house.
“At midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s chains were loosed.” (Acts 16:25-26)
