Thought For Today: “Faithful In Our Ability”
God entrusts us according to our ability and availability.
Jesus brings this out in His parable of the Talents, as Jesus likened it to a man entrusting His wealth to His servants while he goes on a journey, but it expected back.
“Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them. To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability.” (Matthew 25:14-15)
In the same way, God has given each of us what He wills to fulfill His kingdom purpose. Are we faithfully carrying out His plan and purpose by using what He has given, or are we caught up envying those who have been given more or comparing our gifts and talents to others.
God takes no pleasure in either of these scenarios.
Let us, therefore, use faithfully what God has given so at the end we’ll hear, “Well done, good and faithful servant,” and not, “You wicked and lazy servant.” (Matthew 25:21,26)
